BCI replaced two of the three existing blowers and aeration systems without interrupting the plant’s aeration process. This work included the repair and replacement of existing slide gates, the removal of the existing aeration system and the installation of a fine bubble diffuser system. Solids Handling Upgrades The solids handling upgrades consisted of the removal and replacement of two belt filter presses and one sludge conveyor. The necessary piping and electrical modifications were made prior to delivery of the new filter presses, keeping the shut down time of the pressing operation under one month.
Forcemain & Pump Station Upgrades
In addition to the plant upgrades, BCI, was hired to extend the existing 10” forcemain approximately 2,100 LF via directional drilling through the City of Hudson Falls. As a result of the additional forcemain, the pumps within the pump station servicing the forcemain needed to be upgraded as well. In order to upgrade the pumps, BCI had to implement a 500 GPM bypass system around the wet well.
